The IHSA SAC met for the first time in person in June 2021. It was great to meet the student leaders from across the state representing the 800 member high schools that belong to the IHSA. The purpose of our meeting was to set the agenda for our upcoming Biennial Youth Leadership Conference.
Due to the pandemic, we are still unable to hold an in-person conference. The format for the multi-session event will either need to be live or a prerecorded video.
Breaking out into small groups we shared topic ideas and outlines for the various sessions. We then brought these ideas back to the larger group for discussion and consensus. We felt it was important to include information that is relevant to the new situations and challenges many student athletes face in light of COVID-19.
The Youth Leadership Conference will highlight the goals of IHSA student athletes and their ability to be impactful leaders in school and in the sports they play.
