SOILL Advanced Leadership Modules

Writer: sandburgathleticboosterssandburgathleticboosters

The IHSA SAC and SOILL annual collaboration Leadership lessons will be accessible soon. Through the time the ISHA SAC spent working with the SOILL Committee, I learned about the importance of creating an inclusive environment that lets everyone’s ideas and suggestions be heard. I like collaborating with the SOILL Committee participants to understand their perspectives on sports and leadership.

Until our 2022 Leadership program is up, check out the webinar that the Special Olympic Illinois Committee is putting on! The SOILL Athlete Leadership: Advanced Leadership Modules will be aired on January 12th from 5:30 to 6:30pm for free! Athletes can choose which modules they would like to attend to improve skills ranging from understanding emotions, leading discussions and engaging with others.

Here’s a little more about the work that the Special Olympics does. It is a nonprofit, global organization that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. They offer year-round training and competition in 18 sports for more than 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and 13,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics transform the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, allowing them to realize their full potential in sports and in life. The programs enhance physical fitness, motor skills, self-confidence, social skills and encourage family and community support. The work they do is truly amazing.
